Jennifer Keaten DVM, MPH
Veterinary Dental Practitioner
Dr. Jennifer Keaten developed a passion for veterinary dentistry first as a technician. She was lucky enough to work at a veterinary hospital that was more progressive than others in dentistry at the time and learned everything about dentistry from the lead technician there. After 3 years as a technician, she decided to apply to veterinary school. Though she got very little training in the field of dentistry in school, her passion remained. Dr. Keaten graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 with a dual master’s degree in public health that she completed in 2016. She worked for a short time doing mixed animal medicine in New Hampshire before taking a small animal veterinary associate position at Norway Veterinary Hospital close to her hometown in Maine. This is where Dr. Keaten’s commitment to dentistry was able to grow after adding dental radiography to the practice and educating the staff on the importance of dentistry in veterinary medicine. Dr. Keaten joined the Dr. Brett Beckman Dental Academy in November 2017 and has enjoyed the tremendous improvement it has made to her dentistry skills.
Besides dentistry, Dr. Keaten is also passionate about evidence-based medicine, preventative medicine, soft-tissue surgery, and internal medicine and loves helping people take the best care they can of their four-legged family members. Dr. Keaten resides in Bridgton, Maine with her husband, 4 dogs and 2 horses. She enjoys gardening, running, hiking, and traveling in her free time.
